She was fifty-eight. We had been friends for forty years, but only three weeks after being diagnosed with this terrible disease, she was dead.<br /><br />I know how privileged I am, that I have good health and full use of my body, so I have decided to use my legs to walk for a cause, fundraising for St Giles Hospice in Whittington, near Lichfield in particular memory of my friend Jen. <br /><br />I am going to do the <a href="http://stgileshospice.com/can_you_help_us/fundraising/StGilesHospice-SolsticeWalk.html">St Giles Hospice "Solstice Walk"</a> on the night of June 20th, with 2000 other women - all wearing fairy wings and a variety of fairy garb; wands, skirts, deeleys or tiaras and all manner of glitter.<br /><br />The walk is 9 miles around the city of Lichfield. It will be fun, (if it doesn't rain!) but 9 miles is further than I have walked in 20 years or more, so I have already started training for it!<br /><br />As the title of this blog says, I've got the fairy wings, also the wand!
